I heard Gov. Terry McAwful wanted 200,000 felons to vote in Virginia.
Supposedly, 60,000 were eligible to vote by election day, and I thought I saw somewhere that 20,000 of them did actually vote.
If anyone else can clarify this, please post.
I heard that he pardoned 60,000 and that 20,000 of them voted.
NPR news release supports 200,000 prisoners released but I believe goes back further by some months than the 60,000 number does. So I believe when they were released is the only thing that matters as to whether it was 200,000 or 60,000 but if you go back to like April it was 200,000.
McAwful tried at first to give voting rights back to all felons who had served their time, by executive order. That was challenged in court and the courts said he could give a felon back his voting rights, but only one at a time. Auto pen on 24/7 and he got 60,000 felons back their voting rights.
