The emolument clause only prevents the President from being under the financial influence of a foreign state.

It says nothing about running a private business.

Both the Left and NeverTrumpers are grasping at air in their bid to derail Trump.

Both the Left and NeverTrumpers

Including especially George W Bushes or maybe The Bushes. GW's counsel would not have said that without direction from GW.

“...The emolument clause only prevents the President from being under the financial influence of a foreign state....”

Under that provision, Hillary would not be eligible; she’s still getting money (although less amounts than before) from the Clinton foundation.

“(The clause states that “no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”)”

He must think that Trump will give gifts to himself and bribe himself with his own money.

You mean like Hillary was, and Obama likely still is?

If that's accurate, they definitely don't want to push it too far. The Klinton Foundation is chock full of foreign money pay to play corruption. So much so, she would be in prison at any other time.

When these pathetic pansies start worrying about Hillary’s conflicts of interest, getting paid by foreign governments in exchange for favorable treatment, I might briefly take them seriously.

I assume George Washington put Mt Vernon in a blind trust? And Thomas Jefferson put Monticello in a blind trust? Meanwhile, the Clintons and Obamas make millions WHILE IN OFFICE. And everyone knows it.

George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson divested themselves of their property when they assumed the office of the Presidency. That is because our founding fathers believed that grifters and community organizers were better representatives of the people than property owners who had a vested interest in securing the borders, upholding rule of law and providing for the common defense.

Glad we got that sorted out.

The hardcore types trying to postpone the inauguration claim it is Russia.
