If you buy gift cards, you are probably already aware of this. Last time I checked, there was an additional charge ($5 IIRC) for buying a MasterCard or Visa gift card. Also, I received a MC one once and thought I was being smart saving it until I really needed or wanted to use it. They deducted a “fee” every month, so me waiting for months to use made me lose the initial dollar value on the card.

Yep, we just buy the cards from stores the kids like to shop at, no fees and the mailing is usually free. We like to get the physical card to give them rather than the egift card.....
