I know that once, they were set up to activate at random intervals to distract incoming Soviet ICBMs, but that’s about the only use I can come up with for government broadcasters.

They obviously cannot be trusted in any kind of civilian capacity.

The facilities that exist? I was talking about a radical change in NPR/PBS personnel and mission statements.

If you were posting that the American government in all its non-military departments cannot be trusted to do better than in the recent past, once again you and I are at variance of opinions, to put it mildly.
