Something about this story doesn’t make sense. How did he acquire PTSD as a shipboard sailor? If he had a bank account as stated, it should provide all of the information needed if he provided such information to the bank. It is a sad article but poorly researched.

Having been in the Navy myself, sailors can/do serve both aboard ship and “a shore” (as we called it). The article did NOT say he never served a shore. Judge not unless you can back it up. A brother veteran has died, my he R.I.P.
I have 2 service related issues and have been told by multiple people that Im never going to get the VA to acknowledge those and should instead claim another issue thats easier to collect on. I havent followed that advice but imagine there are those who may.
An uncle from the Nam era fought with VA for 20 years, he was the kind that would have made up something if he thought it would shorten the fight and had been clever enough to think of something convincing.
