California used to be part of Mexico, do they want to be returned to them?

If Kalifornia secedes, it will become Mexico again. As it stands, it's going to happen anyway. Mexico will claim it as Putin claimed Crimea....so many Mexicans living here that it is effectively Mexico anyway.

“There is no chance of saving CA.”

Take a cue from your new president. Think bigly.

Fence California off and resume nuclear testing.

The other day a FReeper smartly pointed out (paraphrased) that repealing the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, the 16th Amendment can disappear too, is arguably as good as succession.

So if California works with Trump and the rest of the states to not only repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments, but also put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, then California and the rest of the states will probably enjoy a tsunami of new revenues that they won’t know what to do with, along with much less federal interference in state affairs.

I think I might stay and fight the insurgency from the mountains. Those idiots don’t know who have all the guns.

It would be funny if commies in L.A. and the Bay Area got the whole state to break away, and then the pissed off Right Wing turned around and crushed them in a CA civil war.

And NO WAY would Jefferson be part of CA in a breakaway.

California used to be a paradise and it could be again. If they want to secede the. Let them try. There’s only two, maybe three metropolitan areas that would even try to put up a fight and they have no water, or resources. The Mexican invaders could be cordoned off, starved out, and shipped back to Mexico. The other ones, the true traitor far-left , could be stripped of their wealth and forced to live in western North Dakota.

Then Americans can move west and enjoy the beach.

California secession would be the best thing that ever happened for Conservatism in America. Think of all the political power that the Dems would lose.

Guess that wall will now be extended to the Oregon border then across to the ocean.

I (vaguely) remember in 1956 when my Mother was moving me to California that there were check points at the Arizona line in CA.

Don’t think one was allowed any kind of plants to be transported.

My mother was pulling a 32 ft house trailer and I was acting the typical teenager (16) that was peed of because of moving to a new school as a senior.

Had to make that Southern trip few years ago and was amazed how ‘small’ Rt 66 (what was left of it) was...

Had to ‘tip my hat to her’....

President Trump would have to have California pay for a wall to prevent illegal immigration into the U.S., with EXTREMELY STRICT vetting for those who want to legally immigrate into the U.S.

I would suggest starting with a determination as to how many years an immigrant had been registered as a Republican as one of the main immigration criteria, followed by education level, earnings level, number of years of employment, and amount of capital the immigrant was planning on bringing with.

The last thing the U.S. would want is to import California’s 3rd world ideals and 3rd world economics into our nation.

If cali secedes from union , many counties would form separate states from california. Probably 3 or 4. All that would be left would be enclave city states, i.e. l.a., s.f., s.j., sacram., and maybe san diego. The new states derivef from cali. would join usa, leaving rebel enclaves to die. If enclaves tried to take over new states. The feds would come in and mop em up.. This pattern might reoccur in other states where one or two cities rule the state...i.e. nyc, or chicago

Actually outside of Los Angeles, San Fransico, San Diego California is a very conservative state. If the first 50 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean became the fifty first state all would be good. We would then have two new conservatives from Easter California as Senators and a few conservative reps as usual. If Western California succeeded from The Union we would have two less liberal senators and two new conservative Senators and as a bonus would not need to pick up their insane fiscal policy that is not driving them to bankruptcy but will drive them to bankruptcy.

Please succeed Western California but leave the good half for us.

I misspelled “secede” in my post above. Sorry about that. My fingers do not always do what I tell them to do. ;(

Let ‘em learn. Don’t take ‘em back. NO funding of any kind. Hell half the state is reportedly Mexican anyway. See how long they want to keep it when the figure out just how expensive it is...lol

It breaks my heart to read this ... just like my home in Western New York, filled with conservative, church-going, normal Americans, all effectively disenfranchised by NYC.

Maybe Obamalamadingdong was on to something when he talked about “57 states.”

California should be partitioned, as should New York, as should Illinois, as should Virginia ... add whatever picks you may desire.

Back in the 1960s it was determined that no state may secede from the Union but we have not determined whether a state can be expelled and I would like to see that clarified with an expulsion from the Union of California.
