Thanksgiving, a holiday with a carving knife built into it, looks fraught with even more peril this year.
Families, like everyone else, are still smarting from the election. This time around, turkey day could be a battleground state all its own. Relatives on opposite sides of the spectrum who discover themselves on opposite sides of the holiday table may find their composure as wobbly as a plate of cranberry sauce

We are invited to BIL & SIL home for Thanksgiving. FANG &
I have been having our holiday meals lately at a state park
or a nice restaurant. I dreaded it because they have a DIL
who is a die-hard Democrat who wears the britches in their
house. However, that couple isn’t coming this year. I think
the daughter who is coming is more sensible than this DIL
& it will be nice not to have to be under a strain about
saying the “wrong” thing in their presence. Oh. Well. Can’t
be helped; so I’ll just make the best of it and contribute
what I can. I am no longer really able to cook a log rolling
holiday meal. Husband has had a hard time with the
“holiday” thing.
