BREAKING NEWS: President-elect Donald Trump has named Betsy DeVos, a conservative activist and billionaire philanthropist who has pushed forcefully for private school voucher programs nationwide, as his nominee for education secretary, according to a person close to DeVos.

Ah okay. However, people with the means pretty much do this anyway.
Federally funded “school choice” will be a disaster for private schooling and Christian schooling. The only conservative constitutional position is zero federal involvement in education. The Christian position is “separation of school and state”.
I loved those SRAs !!!
LOL! The OCD in me loved the neat organization, but I was an avid reader at a level way above most of the other kids, and it was just dumb to me.
Get rid of multi generation welfare collectors. They should only get welfare if they can't work, and then, like physical therapy treatments, the state of getting welfare should have a finite period and then need a social worker or doctor or someone to re-up the person if they are so disabled that they cannot work at all. There should not be an automatic increase in welfare payment for children born while on welfare, since clearly you can't afford to raise them on your own. Teen girls who get pregnant should NOT be set up in their own apartment with full benefits, because that is an INCENTIVE to get pregnant. If you get rid of these "feed 'em and breed 'em" programs, you will greatly reduce the poorly parented dross that fills up school after school and guarantees that it will be a crummy school.
My family is O.K. But I didn’t say anything about MY family. I said it about HER family. A guy with her maiden name started Blackwater, the security for hire outfit, and the Devos family did well, starting with Amway. Happy Thanksgiving.
The Blackwater guy is her brother.
>The Christian position is separation of school and state
Amen.
Gop-e strikes again.. I am still laughing about all of this.
back to the orginal public schools
The public schools, at least of NYC, absolutely stink. Perhaps originally they were doing good work, but the combination of the absolute filthy corruption of the Department of Education (what is in actuality a criminal entity made "kosher" by the facade of being a government sanctioned entity), the insane libtard no-fault student behavior now deemed acceptable by said criminal entity, and the lack of parental involvement resulting in disrespectful brats reporting to class and labeled as students has resulted in a seething, bubbling cesspool of pretend education. I recently saw a table of graduation rates vs. college readiness rates for 50 NYC high schools:
I guarantee you that there are good and bad teachers in all these schools. The difference is the school tone set by the students, what they bring with them from their home's tone and the level of parental involvement.
i agree. NYC schools are the pits..... The problem as you say are the parents not the students.
