Author Toni Morrison says white Americans overwhelmingly supported President-elect Donald Trump due to fears that their natural superiority is being lost. Unlike any nation in Europe, the United States holds whiteness as the unifying force, Morrison writes in an essay for the New Yorker, entitled Mourning for Whiteness.
Morrison catalogues an apparent list of concerns held by white Trump voters: There are people of color everywhere, threatening to erase this long-understood definition of America. And what then? Another black President? A predominantly black Senate? Three black Supreme Court Justices? The threat is frightening.
The Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author also explains the lengths white Americans have gone to restore whiteness to its former status as a marker of national identity:
Morrison blames the election of Trump on eager white voters who embraced the shame and fear sowed by the President-elect:
On Election Day, how eagerly so many white votersboth the poorly educated and the well educatedembraced the shame and fear sowed by Donald Trump. The candidate whose company has been sued by the Justice Department for not renting apartments to black people. The candidate who questioned whether Barack Obama was born in the United States, and who seemed to condone the beating of a Black Lives Matter protester at a campaign rally. The candidate who kept black workers off the floors of his casinos. The candidate who is beloved by David Duke.
Morrisons is one of sixteen such post-election essays on Trumps America appearing in the November 21 print edition of the New Yorker.

Is Toni Morrison a black separatist?
One of the cultists who call white people devils and was raised on tales that black people once had wings and that white people are a science experiment gone wrong?
I’m serious in my question.
A vote against Clinton was a vote against yet another George Soros puppet.
In past Republican victories we were told that poor people and minorities voted against their own interests (expanded welfare state) in the name of fantasy (religious belief) and fear (of terrorists and homofascists).
It isn’t surprising that people vote for their interests which liberals now translate into their ‘privilege’. They are so good with words they use to turn “interest” into a guilt trip called “privilege”
In their fight to take away ‘white privilege’, they are simply trying to transfer the perceived powers of ‘white privilege’ to ‘people of color privilege’ by law [ie.affirmative action] or by whites ceding the powers because of the applied power of calling us ‘racists’.
They don’t want the power to disappear; they want it for themselves. That is the whole point of ‘identity politics’. But in this election, they were taught by the voters that there is a limit to identity politics which is where the majority begin to push back.
White Folks, just like everyone else on Earth, simply want to live around White Folks.
I would believe that about black voters who supported Obama and then didn’t turn out for Clinton
What a racist putz. How does this bloviating loser know why anyone voted as they did? Why doesn’t she keep her racist crapola to her self?
Common sense was why we voted for TRUMP. Hillary could
spout off about allowing hordes of largely military age
male Muslim “immigrants” to enter the country. SHE lived
in an “exclusive” area behind a high wall guarded by
ARMED security guards and planned to INCREASE “her”
security once she was “elected”. WE figured out, FINALLY,
that all these “migrants” translated into DEMOCRAT VOTES
in Hillary’s cynical little bubble.
So it can be said that these racists supported Hitlery out of the angry and violent desire to kill whites??
“The candidate who questioned whether Barack Obama was born in the United States”
Pre-election 2008, Obama had his minions in the Hawaii vital records bureaucracy conceal his original certificate of birth from general release but were ultimately compelled instead to issue a computer generated confirmation of birth.
Why the difference? Because in 1960 Hawaii listed the religion of the child, and I think we all know what that one was.
So Obama effectively and unwittingly launched his own birther movement out of political cowardice.
She should seek psychiatric help.
