Trump told Clinton, If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation.
It took Donald Trump only 14 days to renege on this promise.
It took George Bush a longer bit of time to renege on his promise to people reading his lips that there would be, "no new taxes." That betrayal marked the beginning of the end of the Bush administration, the beginning of the end of the Reagan revolution, the beginning of the eclipse of conservatism and the beginning of sunset for America.
Now Donald Trump reneges.
Mmm.
And if Obama pardons her, then what?
Bill Mitchell has some reasoning on what Trump might be thinking. Follow Bill’s tweets:

Oh groan.
I was wondering when you would show up after the election with your hot air pontificating.
Yes the investigation will take place. Congress said as much.
They will have plenty of assistance from the Justice Department. They will then recommend a special prosecutor and one will be appointed.
Like has always been the case.
Now you can go disappear again.
Ha ha, you PONTIFICATED!!!
