Donald Trump cancels meeting with New York Times after the paper REFUSES to speak with him off the record ... a day after excoriating private meeting with media execs
Donald Trump was set to meet reporters from The New York Times on Tuesday afternoon for a brief off-the-record session
That was to be followed by an on-the-record discussion with reporters and columnists from the Times
Trump announced on Twitter Tuesday morning however that he cancelled because 'terms and conditions of the meeting were changed'
He followed that up with a tweet 15 minutes later saying that the times covers him 'inaccurately' and with 'a nasty tone'
A Times spokesperson said that the terms were not changed, but that they refused Trump camp's request to have entire meeting off the record
It was also revealed that no one from Trump's camp or the president-elect himself notified the Times that the meeting was no longer happening
The Times on Tuesday published a front-page story detailing some of the companies with foreign governments ties that do business with Trump
Trump has cancelled a sit-down with reporters from The New York Times and the newspaper's publisher Arthur Sulzberger after the newspaper refused to speak with the president-elect off the record.
'I cancelled today's meeting with the failing @nytimes when the terms and conditions of the meeting were changed at the last moment. Not nice,' Trump wrote on Twitter at 6.15am Tuesday morning.
Times however was quick to respond to Trump's claims, revealing that they did not change any terms of the meeting but did refuse to speak with him off the record.

“The Times used to be reliable that way for people in Chicago, L.A., all over.”
Fortunately, I was able to get through graduate school from a Great State university without ever buying a single copy of the Times. I am sorry to confess I read a handful of free copies.
I’m DEPLORABLE, I suppose.
Oldplayer
Hook ‘em!
NYT is surprised to learn from a tweet that the meeting is off. Get used to it; Trump likes to speak directly to the people. If NYT will be a direct, honest conduit, they will be used.
“It’s a mental illness.”
And they continue to fed at the hog trough of mental illness. They love it.
If Trump was a Democrat, the IRS would be all over the NYT. It’s how they roll.
It is amazing that a Fleet Street scandal rag has become an organ of truth in America.
” I know folks who when searching for information don’t search with google. They search the NY times.”
They will be dying off eventually as the Slimes slips further into irrelevancy.
Why throw the enemy any crumbs? They’ll only misreport what you say and mischaracterize your positions.
Why throw the enemy any crumbs? Theyll only misreport what you say and mischaracterize your positions.
OR, they will do those things anyhow..even without a interview..
Carl Icahn should buy the NY Times and put them out of their misery—and ours.
He is a fantasy President. I’ve been dreaming of him. I just didn’t know it would be him.
The meeting with the @nytimes is back on at 12:30 today. Look forward to it!
This is a good idea: have they been getting all this access free of charge? Flown around to events on Air Force one, etc, have the media sources paid for any of it? Are they fed, do they pay for parking?
No more!
Before the election I encountered liberals who were very happy but isolated from controversial views. They did not watch any tv and their only news source was a daily subscription to the New York Times. As a result, these persons could not be argued with on current events because they clung to a 100% nyt style liberal worldview.
I suspect that trump is aware of these iconoclasts and intends to reach them through cutting the nyt down to size and maybe destroying it altogether, or at least hastening its destruction.
What is the Paper,NYT, Worth?
The Times caved lol
