The Electoral College is one of the most important provision ever put into the Constitution. It prevents tyranny of the majority, particularly when the majority represents a comparatively small geographical portion of America (cities), and is overly representative of a specific way of life (i.e. urban). Why should people in Manhattan determine what regulations and tax burdens farmers in Iowa are likely to have?

How would these people who advocate doing away with the Electoral College feel about doing away with the Supreme Court, and having all decisions made by popular vote?

Thats a great point. This country is still Center-Right. One thing that has HELPED liberalism is the separation of powers, and the lack of pure democracy.
