Trump 'will use Nasa climate change cash to fund Moon missions' as part of his bid to 'Make America Great Again'

Donald Trump may use climate change research cash to blast astronauts back to the Moon as part of his mission to ‘Make America Great Again’.

Members of the US space community believe Mr Trump’s presidential victory could lead to the resurrection of space agency Nasa’s lunar programme, which has not put a man on the Moon since 1972.

The huge cost of lunar missions has been the main reason for their demise, blocked either by presidents or Congress. However, Mr Trump pledged in his campaign to ‘free’ Nasa from researching global warming and other mundane operations close to Earth. Instead, the US will ‘lead the way to the stars’.

LEDs and artificial limbs? Surely you jest.
The space shuttle program alone cost $196 billion and 14 dead astronauts.
Wake up - after the Apollo program, NASA was, and remains, a 30 year hoax - just like globull warming.

Sorry, but you are obviously “Outside the know.” 196 billion is chump change beside the benefits to America and the loss of astronauts was always expected. One does not explore new frontiers without loss of life. That is a basic lesson since the beginning of time. According to you we should have never tried to design airplanes that would actually fly because some people were lost in attempting the feat. Same goes for automobiles, submarines, trains, boats, etc. etc. etc. Actually, according to you the colonization of America was not worth the loss of life, including the westward expansion. You remind me of the blind idiots who criticized Jefferson for the Louisiana Purchase and Seward for the purchase of Alaska. Get lost until you have a viable argument!

Saturn V was cool to watch, but lots and lots of money to build and launch. What if they could build the vehicle in space?
...........................................................
Lots and lots of AMERICANS built the space vehicles and earned their living here in the USA. Our space vehicles were not built by China and imported by WalMart. Time to get some basic facts back into the American thought processes....AMERICA FIRST!

You can’t provide proof for your claim, so you resort to ad hominem attacks. How DU of you.

Oh gee, I don’t know. Is not having enemy weaponized satellites hovering over the USA a value?

I trust that if we violate a treaty, the other signatories will certainly violate it too.

How ironic is it that Nixon shut down Apollo because it was too expensive and chose to fund the Great Society programs.

Now we spend the entire cost of twelve years of Apollo every seventy days in welfare payments.

If we had built a real commercial presence in space, we would have massively grown the economy with a new industry. Instead we have gone into stupefyingly massive debt and accomplished nothing.
