Not even a costal party. West Coast, big city and New England party. Hmm, the Federalist ended up being a big city, New England party too. How did that work out for them?

The difference between the Federalists and the modern Democrats is that in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries the majority of Americans were rural farmers. City dwellers were the minority. The situation is opposite today.
