The circles I run in don’t include too many liberals, but we’ve noticed the same in the outer fringes of our friends. We’ve got a couple relatives who are looney tunes nuts and they’ve gone off the grid so to say.
It was fun to watch them try to figure out what happened.
That’s just it. They are completely unable to explain it. When they try to come up with some rationale, people disagree with them and they shut down.
Our church had a post-election Cry-In last week. These people believed all the Hate against Trump and they are just stunned. There can’t possible be that many KKK members in the US in order for Trump to get elected. That’s really what they think.
I must say, I was surprised at how non-political the conversation was. "Simmering" would be a good word, politics were deliberately avoided. Since they all run from "moderately reasonable" to "Radical Off-the-Rails-Looney-Tunes Leftist", I was expecting a knockdown-dragout.
I was pleased to be disappointed.
Even more pleased to hear the quiet whining when they thought I wasn't paying attention. Near as I could tell, the general thought was, "It's Not Faaaaaair!!!", which I gave up using as an excuse when I was about 5 years old.
