I guess the folks who corrected you haven't picked up on the idea that more than one singer can sing the same song! LOL I guess that you expect that on forums, based on your screen name.
My mother had few luxuries. She talked dad into a "HiFi"; i.e., high fidelity record player, which was in a large cabinet which stood on legs. One of her favorite artists was Perry Como and she had several of his records. Thus, I, too remember Perry Como singing that song.
It was sad at the end of his career when he performed Christmas concerts in Ireland and clearly had trouble remembering the lyrics. They played several of the concerts on PBS.
It’s funny that you remember Perry doing that song, as did I. The internet has multiple citations that he was one of the few of the Italian singers that didn’t. As I was young at the time, I was willing to question my recollection.
