There are many, many times where a jury will convict without a victim.

In that case you produce a body or at least a missing person as evidence that a crime has been committed. Have you seen one of those in all of this? Do we have even one name?
All that’s been offered up is stories. Plausible stories, but stories all the same. A screenwriter can produce a plausible story. What he can’t produce is evidence.
