ok, picky point: than it is now.

And it stands.

Grinding grudges results in exactly the kind of ugly picture we have with BLM, who fancies itself the nemesis for long gone Simon Legrees.

Japan's leader will likely seek reassurances that President-elect Donald Trump remains committed to the U.S.-Japan security alliance when the two meet in New York on Thursday.

Cut us a check and all will be fine.

A more spiritual Christian soul-set will be needed to see any kind of long term gain in Japan, I believe.

It came under America’s wing, just like it was told to do when it was conquered. It’s now bewildered by what it sees as a contradiction in terms.

Getting Japan more directly under God’s wing will be needed. And to address some, a Japan saying it’s more sorry about certain things to us is of no ultimate importance. Will it tell God that it’s sorry for leaving God along with the rest of mankind, and let Christ pick up the burden? That’s the spiritual challenge now.

One thing I do notice is that you are into ad-hominems. That is not an argument; that is a self priding (on your part) mud ball.

One thing that I do notice is that wickedness is a form of insanity.

President Trump will tell PM Abe, that Japan is going to have to build their own atomic bombs and learn how to defend themselves against Chinese incursions in the sea of Japan.

On matters of national defense, Abe is a natural ally of Trump since he’s been pushing hard for the Japanese to build up their own defense forces.

But the Japanese people fear a military build up because of the dangers it would lead to a military takeover. And another obstacle is Japan’s Constitution (that the U.S. wrote for them) that restricts Japan to a small Self-Defense Force.

Another big issue is the island of Okinawa where the American military has a big presence. Rapes and murders by American servicemen have occurred in recent years, greatly angering the people. There have been many large protests there.

I was stationed (early 80’s) in Sasebo, Nagasaki prefecture, at our naval base there where relations between the local people and the US were excellent.

You're right about Okinawa. The rapes and murders did not start 20 years ago. It has been a source of tension since, well, 1945.

The Japanese are slowly rewriting their Constitution and developing their own deterrents. Over time, due to China's posturing, they have been slowly moving tot he offensive and less defensive.

I have in-laws in Osaka and I know how they feel about the buildup but who is afraid of a military (Tojo style) coup???

I’ll never forgive Abe for what he did to my beloved South during the War of Northern Aggression.

Obama submitted the country to world. 'We are nothing, take us.'

Trump has reversed that mindset.

Have Japan ante up defense $$ to us, and improve their own self-defense capabilities, so we can reduce our forces based on their land. Japan is going to have to build their own atomic bombs

THAT (Japanese nukes) is flat out insanity.

Interesting. I have spoken to Japanese about their Self Defense Force, and unfortunately, there’s a lack of full respect for the military in Japan among the people.

Still living under the shadow of post-WWII “re-education” by the US military occupiers. Pacifism has been popular since 1945. This view is changing though as the Chinese become more and more aggressive.
