Army veteran and Republican Senator Tom Cotton was reportedly seen at Trump Tower in New York City Wednesday, fueling speculation he is being considered as the next Secretary of Defense.
Cotton has been a staunch opponent of the Iran nuclear deal and has been critical of President Obama's foreign policy and national security positions.
Senator Jeff Sessions and former Senator Kelly Ayotte, who lost her re-election bid last week, are also reportedly being considered for the position.

Keep Cotton and Sessions in the Senate where they belong. Make Lindsey Graham Ambassador to Fiji.
No, Nigeria or Somalia....
He strikes me as soft and PC on the domestic invasion. He just got in the senate.
Duncan Hunter, Sessions or Flynn much better.
Trump should have Rumsfeld and Cheney stop by the Trump Tower for a late afternoon lunch on a Friday. No comments, just let them be seen by the media walking in the front door.
I agree. Duncan Hunter.
Both Ayotte and Cotton were anti-Trump and Cotton was at the AEI Sea Island meeting, conspiring with Leftist Silicon Valley sultans to thwart Trump.
Yes! Me to!!!!!
Ralph Peters was anti Trump.
Great idea. Either one of them would bring fits of foaming hysteria.
I like him very much. But we have a very slim majority in the Senate..and he is one I’d like to see as a Senator..at least for a full term if not longer..
This guy voted for Hillary. No way.

You only 52 nominally GOP senators, many of whom mostly vote like Rats. Trump needs the good ones there. The House can afford a few picks. How about strategic picks that weaken the bad side? John or Linda to head the VA might get that job done and would improve the Senate. Freepers can probably suggest other doubly useful ‘Sidegrades.’ If we think creatively perhaps we can be bipartisan. Trump wants to do infrastructure work. How about Al Franken as national sewer inspector?
