There is plenty of good campaign stuff, free for the asking.
I bumped into a democrat who was running for state senate a couple of weeks ago, took his propaganda, didn't mention my party affiliation and said that while I didn't have time to walk precincts for him I'd be glad to pick up is campaign signs after the election. He said his volunteers would be picking them up but if I found any after election day they were all mine.
Road signs make great target hangers. I got about 40 of them, which I figure should hold me and a few friends at least until the next election.
