I think there was an opportunity to get a new Speaker. Appointing Priebus solidifies Ryan's position as Speaker, and I don't understand why Trump would want to do him that favor. I think it's something to watch when a close friend and ally of Ryan's will be setting the president's daily agenda as Chief of Staff.

Like I said, it's far too early to criticize or become overly concerned - but it's something to keep an eye on.
