Choosing Ellison would mean the dems have committed themselves even further to being the anti-WASP party. It would mean they’ve abandoned the idea of winning back middle America and instead will double down on being a coalition of alienated victim groups plus a white progressive vanguard. That may not be totally crazy if it lets them rally blacks, latinos, and millenials in a way that Hillary just failed to do.
