Los Angeles (AFP) - When would-be immigrants Bernardino and Samuel got word in Mexico of the election of Donald Trump, they immediately gave up their plans to cross illegally into the United States.
The rhetoric that originally fueled the billionaire populist's rise to power was built around his ambitious promises to deport the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the US and to build a "big, beautiful, powerful wall" along the border with Mexico.
Now, with the New York Republican's stunning victory Tuesday, fear and uncertainty are surging among undocumented immigrants. Will their workplaces be raided? Will there be mass expulsions? Greater obstacles to gaining legal status? What will happen?

We should treat them with the same compassion their home countries would treat us if the situation was reversed.
Be afraid. Be very afraid......
They’re not undocumented. THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY. Their first act upon entering this country was breaking the law.
In answer to their questions; YES, YES, AND YES!
They are criminals.
They should “be in fear” of the law.
This is a glaring example of how Obama and the Democrats prey on the ignorant and weak with false promises and empty gestures.
The media will look for extreme cases of an illegal family being forced back home and give it saturation coverage. The media war against Trump is just beginning and it will be viscous.
Has there ever been a President-Elect who began accomplishing his goals so quickly after a election?
They ALL have Anchor Babies....which should stop IMMIDIATELY!! No reason why they should automatically get citizenship.
I am loving this Trump effect.
Here is the solution to your fear. Go home.
Not a chance, Lance.
He's an original for a politician.
The best part:
Think of all the welfare and freebies (to them; we would have paid for it) Donald Trump is saving the American taxpayer.
The Swiss model: ONLY Swiss adults and children are Swiss.
No anchor babies, no matter WHAT. Doesn't matter if you work there all your life. NO citizenship granted to anyone, ever.
Now, how long before some FReeper cites me examples gainsaying me? Lol.
I think Trump was very compassionate to announce his deportation plans. It gives these people 2 months to get their affairs in order and do it themselves in a way that they would prefer.
I should be concerned that they couldn't be bothered to come here legally?
