I’m amazed how many people shrugged their shoulders when I told them TFA was political. Its all ‘God tier flawless feminist’ saves galaxy from evil white men. Rogue 1 looks about the same way.
There's a line of thought that 'Rey' is actually a descendant of 'Palpatine' (the emperor) or even Palpatine himself.
Nerds have gone back through episode 3 and noticed that she swings the lightsaber just like him and it would explain why she could master the force so fast...
Or it's a stupid movie that all about 'gurl powur'.
If you look at it in a political context or if there are a lot of other stories out with the same political slant, it will look political.
But for people who just want entertainment it's just entertainment (if it works).
