Simple solution is enforce e-Verify on employers for ALL current and future employees, contractors, temporary workers, and even volunteers. An employer has to file IRS paperwork, make them include this simple check, at risk of fine and jail. No jobs, no illegal immigrants. Let them self-deport. The rest, jail ‘em and deport ‘em. This is all federal, not state. California, New York, wherever, federal laws still apply and immigration is a federal matter, not state.

All we need do is enforce the law. It’s unlawful to employ undocumented workers, enforce it. It’s unlawful to give away OUR social security benefits to non-citizens, enforce it. Just make returning home more inviting than staying here and they’ll go home on their own. No roundups needed...
