Electoral College does a reasonable job of keeping voting balanced. Popular vote would be VERY unbalanced.

I have no desire to see my red vote in South Carolina preempted by a bunch of blue votes from the NE or the West Coast.

I live in SC for a reason.

But I would like to know - would it take a Constitutional amendment to end the Electoral College? which would then have to be approved by the State legislatures, right?
