A role for Newt Gingrich in Trump administration?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | November 9, 2016 | Dan Chapman

Former Georgia congressman Newt Gingrich is sitting pretty today, a likely choice for a top position in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.

U.S. Secretary of State Gingrich, anybody?

“I fully expect that Newt will get some type of very prominent position in the Trump administration,” Peake said Wednesday morning. “Who knows? There’s probably a handful of people who can name what they want and Newt would be on that short list.

Larry Sabato, who runs the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, said Gingrich as secretary of state wouldn’t allow for many dull moments.

“If I owned a China shop I’d sell it, because Gingrich, in whatever role Trump gives him, will be a bull,” Sabato said via email. “Gingrich finally got his revenge on the Clintons—and it was total.”

Great man, brilliant intellect - sorta iffy in the Personal Behavior Department.

Will he be forgiven his past...?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care if they simply give him a chair in a room with a sign that says NEWT... as long as he is in earshot of President Trump.

Newt got some hate here over the years but I am a YUGE NEWT FAN! He will be an amazing SoS.

My issue with Newt is that he is an idea guy, not an executive.

Send him back to the House of Representatives to be Speaker. The Speaker doesn’t have to be a current member.

Every time Newt had a kill shot on the Clintons clear in his sights, being loved by the media for his magnanimity became his absolute and overriding priority.

That fact is undeniable reality for anyone who lived through it, was actually paying attention at the time, and hasn’t gone senile yet.

I remember.

His advocates here are one or more of: naif, senile, compensated.

He’s already a close adviser - the only thing we don’t know is what his official role will be....same with Rudy.

I agree. I have said for a long time that I think Newt would be a great Chief of Staff - could advise President Trump and push things through Congress, as needed, which he knows how to do as well as anyone.

Newt was one of the most articulate RINOsaurs in the global warming tar pit.

Newt’s use of the term “campaign device” either precludes him or reflects the fact that he was turned down.
