Because Big Ten country had been neglected in all the political strategists’ calculation. But Trump tailored his campaign and spoke their (our) language. And therefore, the monster votes showed up there.
Even now, other post election analysts are too busy tearing into the perceived buffoonish clown (Trump), they don’t realize who and what Trump represent.
. . . except, of course, for Illinois and Minnesota.
