Actually, it began when SHAKA began his attacks against neighboring tribes. His attacks were so brutal he actually had a 500 mile radius of abandoned land between his capitol and the next tribe.
Most of those fleeing, went to South Africa which had very few blacks, some parts had no blacks. Bushmen and Hottentots, but no blacks.
