Both this AdAge article and the Zero Hedge article provide great details about how the two campaigns operated. Hillary’s was the traditional consultant bloated expensive political campaign. Trump’s was the lean campaign that leveraged social media brilliantly to ultimately succeed for half the cost. Trump style.

Not only that, but a smaller crew is tighter, easier to keep coordinated and maintain communications with to keep them on point. They've got speed & maneuverability whereas a leviathan of an organization lumbers along with stunted flexibility at a high cost of added overhead.
