Self-preservation is the most basic human right there is.
“If I am not for myself, who will be for me?” - Rabbi Hillel
This is immediately followed by, “But if I am only for myself, who am I?”
In today’s context, I would say that we have been bombarded ( in content ) by the second of these maxims, to the exclusion of the first. And yet, it is easy to remember the first, or even reinvent it.
