Campaigning would be very different if we had a pure democracy. Those who whine about winning the popular vote might think their baseball team should have won if they had 20 hits vs the opponent's 5, though they only had 4 runs vs. the opponents 5 (all home runs).

I’m hoping beyond hope VA begins a shift back to reality over the next few years. If Trump delivers even a trivial reduction of the FedGov in his first term (:-)), you’ll see an exodus from the counties that screw up VA politics these days.

Correct! Of course the liberals, Dems and media will claim Trump does not have a mandate because he did not win the popular vote. It doesn’t matter, that is not how we do Presidential elections. It will not change either. No way will the smaller states agree to a constitutional amendment that would for all practical purposes make their Presidential votes useless.
She “won” the popular vote solely due to millions illegal aliens and legal non citizens illegally voting in our elections!
Trump won the popular vote of legal voters (ie CITIZENS)!
I'm not sure there is much of a difference between those two groups, other than one group got caught and the other group hasn't been yet.
The popular vote argument is void because the rules dictate the campaign process. If Donald Trump had faced the task of winning the popular vote, he would have spent at least some more time and advertising money in CA, NY and possibly MA, states that he probably figured were a waste of his time and money. He could have adjusted his campaign to get a few more tenths of a percentage of the popular vote, if that had been the pathway to victory.
The electoral college has kept two climate nuts out of the White House, an outcome the founding fathers would perhaps appreciate once it was explained to them, and they stopped laughing (”they really think that? By God, our descendants have lost their minds.”)
When the final vote is counted, Trump will get about 1 million more votes than Romney got in 2012.
Hillary Clinton will get about 3 million less votes than Obama got in 2012.
Nationally, the Democrat Party has enough LEGAL voters to beat the Republicans in every presidential election and every mid-term election.
The only time Democrats lose nationally is when they fail to get their LEGAL voters to the polls.
I heard a guy this AM that said the absentee ballots are essentially uncounted and if they were counted would swing for DT and put him over this popular vote.
California is a special problem child. It could easily become 3 or 4 states. Few conservative presidents attempt to appeal to it. Trump still might, in his administration.
Washington state too all three states down the left coast vote lib.
The warming panic comes from taking no context beyond the immediate.
Yeah... if they’re “moot” as to the official result they get ignored... and the meme will keep on bouncing around out there that “Hillary won the popular vote.”
Which is another good reason to vote on actual Election Day. Then, what you voted shows up in the popular vote.

If the popular vote determined the winner, we would see a nationwide recount. Noncitizen votes thrown out, Trump wins
And that goes for all of Obummer's "czars" as well.
