I knew W. would be bad news with his talk of "compassionate conservatism" and his affinity for Mexican illegals back in 2000. I also knew that he was basically a nonentity who got where he was thanks to his family's connection and wealth rather than on the basis of any effort or merit on his own part.
What I didn't know was just how bad he would turn out to be. You'd think he'd show a little gratitude to the millions of voters who held their noses and voted for him because he was a (slightly) lesser evil than Gore or Kerry by supporting the candidate of choice of these same voters 16 years later. Apparently, that's too much for the plebs and proles to expect of His Royal Majesty.
“I also knew that he was basically a nonentity who got where he was thanks to his family’s connection and wealth rather than on the basis of any effort or merit on his own part.”
Isn’t that the truth. It was as if in 2000 we never had a Republican primary. All of a sudden this non-entity with his daddy’s name was the nominee.
“What I didn’t know was just how bad he would turn out to be. “
He vastly exceeded my already low expectations.
