The comment prompted James OKeefes Project Veritas to test the theory by sending an undercover journalist clad in a burqa to a polling station and asking for a ballot to vote in the name of Huma Abedin, Hillary Clintons longtime close adviser.
The journalist was offered a ballot but did not accept it. See video at link. Read more at http://www.wnd.com/2016/11/fake-huma-in-burqa-given-real-humas-ballot/#M78Lci1HmwRHgcQD.99
I don’t think the burka makes a difference.
Wherever there is no ID to vote, anybody with knowledge of the identity of someone not voting can merely go up to the desk, state the non-voter’s street address and name, and then vote. With the machine.
In this case, though, Huma was not on the rolls... so, the faux Huma would be filling in a provisional ballot.
I didn’t see this video as especially bad.
The Dem election commissioner seemed sympathetic to the need for better voter ID and is worried about moslem women concealing their identities or worse in their burka.
The elderly woman checking in voters did the lawful thing by offering a provisional ballot and she didn’t display any beliefs one way to the other. She was dutifully following election law as she was trained.
She didn’t recognize the infamous name of Huma Abedin, but you cannot hold that against her. There are many people in the country who do not follow politics — sometimes I think it must be very nice to go through life not worrying so much about all this garbage. The lady was very polite and professional (and nicely dressed while doing her job).
I think the laws, letting people, vote, without ID are ridiculous. But you cannot hold the poll workers accountable for that.
This would have been a scandal if the poll worker had said “I cannot find your na,e on the rolls, but here’s a ballot — please vote for Hillary and do not let anybody know I helped you violate the law.” But that did not happen.
Much ado about nothing.
She didn’t get a “real” ballot, rather a provisional ballot, which would be checked against the books and most likely thrown out.
There should be no federal funding for any state that can’t operate a trustworthy federal election process.
