To make your $1 per person scenario work a new car would cost 2 cents, an average house would cost 15-20 cents.
That leaves between 78-83 cents left for retirement.

I’d go for that ONLY if the disbursement was tax free.

Exactly.
This “meme” has been all over the innerwebs and only affects people too high to math ( the lumpen proletariat, public education victims, simple folk, salt of the land, you know, mo-rons).
40 million people given ONE dollar each would be 40 million dollars.

The mathematics involved here truly reflect the mentality of those running the Government and those suggesting solutions.
They truly are "stuck on stupid."

40 million people getting 1 million dollars each would cost $40 TRILLION dollars
But yeah, that would set the countries' economic blender on ‘puree’

Or just “retire” them. About a dollar each. Like in Logan’s Run.

Your phone probably has a calculator, you should use it. If you give 40 million people 1 dollar each it would cost 40 million dollars. If you give 40 million people 1 million dollars each, it would cost 40 trillion dollars. Not such a good deal.
