Only one thing is certain about Wednesday morning, half of America is going to be pissed off.
Infuriated, alienated, disenfranchised.
If the winner is known, if the presidential race isn't hung up in some court challenge or Russian hack, the only prediction that can be made with any confidence is that this election will leave about 50 percent of the people in this country feeling like this isn't their country.
The divide will be wide and deep.
And the prospects of bridging it are meager.
But first, who's going to win.
It's anybody's guess.
Reasonable arguments can be made for several scenarios. The polls could be right and Hillary will win before the thing leaves the Eastern time zone. The Trump surge in the polls could push put him just past her and he squeaks it out when they close the polls in Nevada. Or there could be a rumbling subterranean tide, a huge surge of enthusiasm for Trump shown at his rallies but not in the miscalculated polling samples, and he could win in a landslide when they tally up Ohio and Michigan.
The range of reasonable outcomes stretches from a Clinton landslide to a Trump landslide, and any number of hanging-chad situations in between.
Both sides hope for victory, both sides are holding their breath.
And one side is going to be kicked in the ass.
And kicked to the curb.
The first responsibility of the president elect will be to reach out and welcome in. The great challenge will be making peace, not with foreign governments, but with American citizens.
And that doesn't seem likely.
Neither candidate seems inclined to graciousness. Neither candidate seems particularly interested in or capable of reaching out to people who disagree. Trump has spoken more of love, and been less specifically condemning of his opponent's supporters, but his brand has been so destroyed among Democrat voters that the only reasonable response they can have is hatred.
And it seems that a great deal of hatred has been shown by Hillary and her supporters for Trump voters. Election Day isn't a magic wand that makes "unredeemable" and "deplorable" go away, and when you have described your opponents as racists, xenophobes, sexists and Islamophobes as a matter of course, victory doesn't make bygones be bygones.
There is a likelihood that either side will see electoral victory as a justification for its own delusions of infallibility. Wednesday won't be brotherhood and understanding, it will be taunting and end-zone celebrations.
And one side will read the outcome as a giant middle finger in the face. The sense of being disregarded, disrespected and disenfranchised will be enormous -- no matter who wins. Recent years, and this campaign, have exacerbated dramatically social division along the lines of race, gender, religion and politics. Even the things that used to unite us -- God and country -- have become flash points of anger, with both being disregarded and dumped by some.
There is a revolution afoot, and one side is going to lose.
And the losing side is apt to be shouted into silence, defined out of the new America.
In times past, that would have troubled the winning side.
But not anymore. On Wednesday morning, half of America is going to be pissed. And, sadly, that is going to thrill the other half.
In recent days, people have been saying, "Won't you be glad when this is over?"
The answer is, "No."
Because when the election is over, that's when it's going to get bad.
Out of the frying pan, and into the fire.
Absolutely, there is no doubt in my mind that's what happened. Donald Trump has put everyone on notice that he is not going lay down and take it. Instead of being resigned to defeat he has given Trump voters hope and if we have to stand with him we know he will not fold like a cheap camera. Proud to be a Trump voter!
What will happen Wednesday morning? Well, I’ll get out of bed and fix some breakfast just like always. Though I see what you mean. If Trump loses, I don’t know how I’m going to explain it to the dog.
My daughter and I work at the elections in our district. We usually end up at the voter registration table. We both took Wednesday off, as well. We think it’s going to be a late night Tuesday. We’re in one of Wisconsin’s extremely blue counties.
There is a poltical scientist that has “13 questions” that he poses to forecast elections results along analysising polling. He picked Trump.
One of his questions, which,in my view, he wrongly gave to the Democrats is:
“No prolonged social unrest in the County during the last term of the incumbent party’s 2nd term”.
In this case that would be Clinton so the BLM rioting was actually hurting her.
It was the most evil get out the vote effort in US History. They could not get blacks to vote for Hillary so they tried to scare them to the polls.
I pray, as some of the polling seems to indicate, it bites these evil people on the butt big time tomorrow.
It’s in God’s hands and everyone pray that We The People working hand in hand with God will defeat the evil that is Hillary Clinton and her cohorts. Our parents fought and defeated the Nazis. What we face today, IMO, is equally as evil. Let us make the Greatest Generation proud of us as well; Let’s Roll! Go Trump 2016!
Thank you Donald J. Trump for showing the world who is evil and whose been pretending all this time. I hope there is room in hell for all the traitors among us.
“As Assange said in his latest interview “Trump won’t be allowed to win”. It truly will be a situation of It’s not the votes that count, but who counts the votes.”
This is why Trump needs an absolute landslide.
“Who counts the votes” only works when there’s a small enough margin to conceal the rigging.
Votes will count if there are so many in his favor as to either overwhelm any attempts to cheat, or to force revelation of fraud.
When JFK was elected, rumor was someone commented “I want to buy a win, not a landslide”. Hillary can afford a win, but not a landslide; therefore Trump needs a landslide to overcome her purchase.
I wonder what Trump will do if he loses...
1. Retire from politics?
2. Start a third party - the T Party. (the establishment is going to Savage him and his supporters)?
3. Keep hammering away at the corrupt system and Clintons, planning another run in 4 years?
Infuriated, alienated, disenfranchised.”
Actually for those who support Hillary, this is not a true statement. “Half of America”? I don’t believe she has that much support. With evidence of voter fraud in previous Presidential elections, and the absentee ballot fraud being reported presently, nowhere near half of the electorate will feel disenfranchised. A lot of the Left will scream about not getting away with their standard practice, but nowhere near half of the electorate will feel disenfranchised.
Now among those who support Trump, yes, they will feel betrayed by a crooked system that has repeatedly ignored their wishes. they will hunker down, expecting the Left to continue its assault on morality, honesty, integrity, and goodness. We view our Republic as in mortal danger from within and without.
The biggest problem is the powers that be within are cooperating the the danger from out and disarming us.
However, today's battle is between those who uphold America's founding principles vs. those who hate those principles and desire to transform America away from the idea that governing power originated from God-to the people and THEN are distributed by the People's consent via Constitutional parameters.
We cannot compromise with ideas that run counter to our founding principles because to do so is to relinquish our already tenuous hold on liberty.
Today, Hillary and the Democrats seek to rob the people of their authorities, freedoms and power. They seek to establish a totalitarian regime. NEVER COMPROMISE! NEVER! The only course of action is to DEFEAT THE ENEMIES OF FREEDOM.
The war goes on after November 8th. I pray for a total TRUMP VICTORY. . .a victory for America!!
“Once that worked in Trumps favor..tada no more mass shootings.”
That is...disturbing.
“There is a likelihood that either side will see electoral victory as a justification for its own delusions of infallibility”
Hogwash. Trump will rightly go after those who are corrupt and/or liars - but he does NOT have delusions of infallibility. That’s a crap lie spread early in the primaries. He has no animus towards average Americans that HONESTLY disagree with him. He does not despise them. Unlike Hillary - who IS evil and a sociopath and WILL go after any and all detractors or those not bowing in submission to her.
I’m confident Trump will win!(the genuine vote) However I’m more confident the liberal scum will win the so called ‘election’ via fraud. So where do we ‘irredeemable and deplorables’ go from here? Which will be the first state or states to secede? In my view that is the only solution as our differences are irreconcilable. Otherwise we will go to the gallows one way or the other.
Yes it is...They will stop at nothing, including killing your kids.
probably:
4. Go back to being a major CEO, leveraging everything he gained by running for POTUS.
He’ll retire from politics because he’s not a politician. In a way, he hasn’t run this campaign as a politician, but as a pissed-off executive wanting to serve his community and then get out. He has no political leanings per se, he just wants to do a good job as the most powerful CEO in the world.
I think he'll be prosecuted by the regime and thrown in jail as a political prisoner.
God Bless Trump
That would be ... unwise.
You bet..pi$$ off 70 million americans, even worse than now.
>>If the US descends into Civil War, we are all sunk as Russia, China, Iran and North Korea will begin their major provocations...
Only two of those are legitimate threats. Russia and China are not the nation’s they were in the Cold War and we don’t really know what’s going on with them because our media and government do not tell the truth. I’m more concerned about the Progressive down the street than the pseudo-capitalists across the ocean.
If there’s a nuclear war, then we die and our problems in this life are solved.
But if you have to look at neighbors and co-workers or the guy in the next car as potential deadly enemies, then your problems on this earth just got really serious.
I hadn’t thought about that, but you are 1000% correct. Interesting.
Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle,
But deliverance is of the Lord.
Trump has done a great job. We leave it to the Lord on the 8th and the 9th should be fine.
