I don’t understand why people expect the NYPD to do a thing. They did a search of the computer for one thing only - evidence of Anthony Weiner’s criminal conduct and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. They are not allowed to look any further than that.
They obviously became aware of a huge cache of emails and some of these appeared to be classified or could be classified so they notified the FBI. They are not supposed to look at them, copy them, distribute them, or anything else. That would constitute illegal possession of classified information and/or government documents. In theory, they would be charged if they did any of this and they would have been acting beyond the scope of their investigation. Their last name is not Clinton so all of you who think the NYPD can do something about this are going to be disappointed (again).
The only glimmer of hope is that a forensic clone or image of the computer exists so congress can subpoena that. Will see if they do anything with it, but I expect to be disappointed again.
Comey’s statement that there was a complete and thorough investigation is confusing considering everyone agrees there were no search warrants, no subpoenas, no grand jury, and little effort to interview the people who emailed the secret information in the first place. It would be impossible in the scheme that took place for there not to be more than one person guilty of a crime. The person who sent the email and the person who received it would both be guilty of the same thing.
This is a whitewash. One man is not the most hated person in America on the left and the right. The real tragedy is that he is not the person who created this mess. She is.
Excellent post. But, I can tell you one thing, and although they’d never admit it, some of them looked at those emails. Of course, they didn’t go thru 650k of them in a weekend like the FBI supposedly did, but they peeked.
And at this point, the precedent has been set. They didn’t mean to do it.
I skimmed thru an article yesterday quoting Rep King, that stated they have the emails from Weiners computer.
As to Comey, so many confuse him with a Law & Order type that has investigated crimes. He’s been a political hack lawyer. Never an FBI agent or anything remotely close. He has been in the hip pocket of the Democrats, the Establishment, and the Elites, since he showed up on the scene. His stunt with Ashcroft, was nothing more than that, having met with Schumer prior to the meeting.
Sad thing for him though is, I’m sure he’s got a nice fat bank account, that he’s a useful idiot for all of them. Nothing more. They play him like a puppet with numerous puppet masters. I guess the size of his bank account makes it easier to be a corrupt bitch, in the end.
