Oh my, how sad.
I have a gun that I’ve had for years.
(given to me for self protection by an old boyfriend years ago)
I don’t ‘carry’ it. I know it’s illegal. I just keep it in the house. It is absolutely unloaded. Just had a friend clean and double check it to make sure it’s not loaded.
I wonder if you or someone could tell me anything about it.
I know nothing of guns.
Printed on the gun is:
Titan Tiger, caliber 38 or 35-not sure,SPL, Miami Fla,
Arid? Corp. It’s a heavy, frightening looking thing, but looks brand new after cleaning.
I’d like to buy some bullets and take it out to a firing range, but I’m afraid. I’m tiny and not strong- it might have a ‘kickback’ that would do damage.
This gun is illegal I think. I’ve no idea where it originally came from or what kind of bullets it uses.
thanks in advance
Katy

So you are saying that I should prepay for abuse visited upon me? It doesn’t matter the amount of the insurance, it will not replace the truck with a new one, the tools with new ones , nor compensate me for the lost business and days of acquiring a new vehicle, tools, and clients.
The only reason evil exists is because good people do nothing to stop it. There are no consequences for taking my vehicle. It is no longer a felony in CA. No matter what, I suffer infinitely more than the thief. I cheer every time a thief suffers.
True!
Thieves should be able to be shot on sight. However, you better not shoot others while shooting the thieves. The guy screwed up, but he needs compassion. Hope he has US Law Shield.
Hope he wasn’t ‘WHITE”.
too much TV.
He was no longer in danger when he fired.
I didn’t suggest shooting insurance.
It's an Arminus Titan Tiger.
It's not a particularly good firearm, worth at best a few hundred dollars.
It will however shoot just fine assuming the timing is ok(I.e., the cylinder isn't super loose and moves when you pull the trigger). Go buy some 38 Special ammunition and go to the range. It does not have very heavy recoil as it's a pretty heavy gun and 38 special isn't a particularly heavy round.
“There are a number of states where that is exactly what the law says.”
So there are states where you can take an innocent life “protecting your property” when there is no threat to you personally? States where “collateral deaths” are not punished? Sure glad I don’t live in any one of those states. I can tell you that if someone killed my wife “protecting his car from being stolen,” I would make it a personal mission to kill him. Hell, I’d drop him if a stray round of his took out my dog!
“That labor and the time expended in labor can not ever be recovered.”
And how does one recover the $100,000 they spend on a lawyer and the income lost while sitting in a prison cell for 15 years?
Do you have house insurance? Insurance to replace your truck and tools is a whole lot cheaper than attorney fees for a manslaughter trial.
Same deal.
There’s no reason that a cop shouldn’t be responsible for every bullet that leaves their gun.
Take it to the range and buy a box of 38 special ammo, then ask somebody to show you the best way to hold it and have them fire it a few times. It doesn’t have a lot of recoil...
It’s a revolver right? Should be accurate to 10-15 yards, 5-6 for a beginner, is it a snubby barrel or 4”?
Well said ‘vette. To think it is anytime okay to stupidly fire rounds across the neighborhood to try to prevent a darn automobile theft is crazy! If it had been one of their own loved family members killed by this dumbass shooter, they would be singing a different tune.
Wow. There are so many things that could be said right there, but they are all obvious.
What a dummy.
Yep, here you go. There is a pretty good description lower down on the page.
BTW, an unloaded gun is worse than useless. A .38 is okay for even a slightly built woman. My sister was a federal agent weighing in at 100 and she was a crack shot with an S&W .38.
Go to a gun store and offer $50 bucks for a shooting lesson. Then, keep it loaded and available.
Bumper Sticker: “Come back to Miami. We weren’t shooting at you.”
I slammed a guy’s head in my truck door one time. He was trying to steal something. The officer asked me if the truck or anything I had in it was worth someone’s life. I responded that I don’t think the bad guy had considered that. Why I am supposed to be concerned about the well being of a bad guy is beyond me. Clearly, bad guys are not concerned with my well being. There should be NO lawsuits against citizens defending themselves or their property. Yes, the person in this article is responsible for her death.
Clearly, he did not intend to kill her, so he should walk! Just ask Hildabeast./s
