My take on it is this. Law enforcement is under orders not to leak. Law enforcement can’t get things done underneath their bosses. News reporters can’t get real news past their editors. So at this point it is up to us.
Consider upper folks trying to determine who is a leaker by telling people things with unique specifics in them, then waiting to see which versions make it out there.
