Canada is a country worthy of invasion. Canada has abundant resources of fresh water, oil, coal and timber, all of which will be increasingly important as climate change continues its death march across history. The longer we scorch the Earth, the more valuable Canada’s resources become.

Would President Trump wait for a pipeline? No. Waiting for a safe and legal pipeline takes too much time. Annexations for oil resources are much simpler. Just ask Ukraine. Given Trump’s connections to Putin via ex-adviser Paul Manafort, and his pro-Kremlin foreign policy positions, it’s not a daring leap of imagination to consider that Trump might put Putin’s tactics to use regarding Canada.

Invade? Never. Buy? Maybe. Let’s see if we can make a deal for, oh say, all the provinces west of Ontario. There may be quite a few Canadian Subjects out there who could find (given about three years to recover from Obama) being a State of the United States a better deal than rule by Trudeau in Ottawa.

I have long thought that the United States should annex Canada. It is absurd that we have to go through another country to get to Alaska!

If Benedict Arnold had brought a few more men and more supplies for the attack he led on Canada, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.
I keep telling fellow Canadians if they will listen that Americans rarely ever think of you. That’s the hard and honest truth. America is not going to invade Canada because generally Americans don’t give a flying rat shit about Canada. That’s the impression I have gotten over the years.
From the comments it sounded like readers are really taking this suggestion literally. I thought the average American, at least on politics, was pretty stupid, but we take the cake.
