Many in Michigan remember the automotive boom days (the many plants of Big Three and the great many related supply chain and worker-serving businesses) and the yuuuge shrinkage after foreign cars became popular.
UAW work quality and corporate cost-reducing ploys generally resulted in quality-challenged cars, and the left coasters’ love for foreign cars, along with a general drop in loyalty to American companies, really hurt automotive.
I have to believe there are a great many in Michigan that would love to see some boom days again, to do the cabin up north with some boats and ATV toys again. To have I-75 city dwellers well employed again (Detroit, Pontiac, Flint, Saginaw).
Only Trump can lead there.
Well, there will be new auto plants in the US, but not in Michigan. They will be in the south as has been the case. On the other hand, now that Michigan is a right to work state, you never know - which is something I thought would never happen.
