But (Hillary Clinton) is a patriot. She will uphold the sovereignty and independence of the United States. She will defend allies. She will execute the laws with reasonable impartiality. She may bend some rules for her own and her supporters advantage. She will not outright defy legality altogether. Above all, she can govern herself; the first indispensable qualification for governing others.
So I will vote for the candidate who rejects my preferences and offends my opinions. (In fact, I already have voted for her.)

Huh? The woman who dreams of a Western Hemisphere with open borders and a common market?
Was Frum partying with Gary Johnson before writing this?
Every one of these statements is shockingly dishonest and absurd. Hillary rejects borders and sovereignty. She rejects the rule of law when dealing with those who have connections. She defies legality altogether, trashing anyone who attempts to enforce the many laws she has broken. She cannot govern herself, continuing to see our our country even now that she has well over $100 million. Hillary is the least qualified major party nominee in history, worse even than Obama because we didn’t know for a fact how evil Obama was at the time, while we know exactly what we would get with Hillary.
What a flaming RINO dipsh*t
There is no conservative case for voting Clinton, but I would not expect a Canadian liberal to know that.
Frum actually claims to support reducing immigration levels, and has written good articles in the past ably arguing for a reduction. He claims in this article to “more or less” agree with Trump on immigration.
But clearly he’s either lying in that claim or the issue really doesn’t mean anything to him. Hillary has vowed to massively increase refugee admissions, and she supports Gang of Eight style legislative reform which would massively increase already excessive levels of immigration.
Frum is either an idiot or a phony.
Oh dear. If we’ve lost Frum, we’ve lost the entire Upper West Side of Manhattan.
Once upon a time, he was a smart and incisive observer of the political scene for National Review. I found his column "David Frum's Diary" a must read and his opinions insightful.
Something cracked inside his head during the 2008 campaign and he has steadily drifted leftward. He supported McCain but denounced McCain's choice of Palin for VP. Just prior to the election he parted with National Review over that and other issues. Once Obama was in office, he advocated negotiation with Obama on health care, effectively conceding that government run health care was inevitable.
He currently is the pet "conservative" at The Atlantic, he is only conservative when compared to the rest of their writers. The proof of his downward spiral is his opening paragraph of this article:
She will uphold the sovereignty and independence of the United States. She will defend allies. She will execute the laws with reasonable impartiality. She may bend some rules for her own and her supporters advantage. She will not outright defy legality altogether. Above all, she can govern herself; the first indispensable qualification for governing others.
There is not a single statement there that is not factually incorrect. I found the "not outright defy legality" comment particularly funny.
Maybe both?
A vote for Hillary is a vote for lawlessness and no sane person, regardless of their political stripe, would vote for her. Alas, most democrats and sanity don’t go together but I would expect better of republicans.
Did "Journalist" James Fallows Supply A Draft Copy Of An Article To The Clinton Campaign?

Scott Adams calls it "the fake because".
It's how people like Frum justify an irrational decision, and pretend that it was "rational".

I get it. You make the “conservative” case for Hillary by first taking LSD, then sitting down to write column.
But Frum is not a conservative. Hasn’t ever really been one.
.
Frum has always been a turd in the punchbowl.
