I remember George Bush Sr. when he was president, braying on about “reaching across the aisle” and his “good friend Dan Rostenkowski.” I remember his desperately trying to be friends with George Mitchell. His goal was to be friends with the Dems, not advance a partisan agenda. He places being friends with the Dems above the rough and tumble of politics. Its sad that he and his son were the only two Republican presidents since Reagan.
There’s a right way and a wrong way to reach across the aisle.
