I think a lot of them are starting to worry about their credibility post election if Trump wins — as it looks increasingly like he is going to.
Trump is no Conservative, nor is he Liberal in the sense we have used the word at FR over the last two decades. There’s a lot about him they dislike, but from there point of view, it could be a heck of a lot worse.
Hillary looks like she is going down. They need to salvage what they can.
The Dems best plan right now is to retreat to fight the midterms.
The GOPE will still be around, and they are better off regrouping along with the remnants of that bunch in 2018.
