My understanding (and folks from NC can confirm) is that there have been a lot of liberal carpetbaggers coming from the north to settle in the areas around Raleigh and Charlotte. Charlotte has been marketing itself as a new hub of technology (and this attempt to market itself as such led to the ‘bathroom wars’ there).
That said, thousands of other people have done the same thing as them and WILL vote for Clinton. Trump still carries NC, though, IMHO.
Lots of transplants from the “blue” north in Raleigh. A town next to Raleigh still in Wake county is Cary and the local joke is Cary stands for Containment Area Relocated Yankees. They come here because it is a wonderful place to live then try to make it like NJ.
Yes, it’s got a lot of liberal carpetbaggers. But, we mainly have a small set of enclaves of liberals and a lot of yellow-dog democrats who are starting to see the light.
The internals of the polling they’ve been doing in North Carolina is very telling. +9 dem, +14 female, 27% black, any of a dozen other dirty tricks.
The Governor was on the air today on the local radio station and he had two things that made huge impacts, and he’s been working on getting the word out.
1) The state fought Obamacare, and the Democrat Attorney General (who is running against him for Governor) refused to do his job and represent the state in their efforts, and so they had to hire a private law firm.
2) The state is working with Obama on disaster relief after Hurricane Matthew and with the Trump/Pence campaign to work on future relief efforts, but the Clinton/Insane ticket refused to help.
Funny one was “The NCAA can bother to cancel games because of who uses bathrooms, but doesn’t care about the lives of their fans, and refused to cancel a game (between NC State and Notre Dame) and ended up killing one of their fans.”
I believe the phrase is “OUCH!”
They report that over half of those living in NC currently were not born there. CHarlotte became banking and corporate relocation haven while Raleigh-Durham is academia and technology center with many transplants.
