This has come down to a get out the vote election. Whoever shows up on election day, wins. They haven’t beaten us in the early vote, and we usually do better than them in the election day vote.
A friend corrects me. Admiral Nimitz, at the Battle of Midway, when advised to break contact with the Japanese fleet after sinking three of their four aircraft carriers, replied, But I want that fourth aircraft carrier.
I think that was "I want that forth carrier" Reference to the battle of Midway where American torpedo and dive bombers sunk the 4 Japanese aircraft carriers Akagi, Kaga, Soryu and Hiryu.
Sorry I'm just a WWII aficionado. My Uncle flew in a B-24 Liberator with the Jolly Rodgers out of New Guinea during the war.
