Indeed. This would mean that the email releases are having a serious negative effect on her campaign, and they need to get something out there quickly. Would not be surprised if you are right. Comey knows for sure he is tainted and OUT if Trump wins, but has a chance with Hillary.

IF they are trying something like that, all it would end up doing is super energizing Trump supporters with anger two days before the election while doing nothing to improve HRC’s eroding bernie base.

Comey could’ve simply released a statement that the new info is not serious enough to reopen the investigation, which would’ve had the same effect as clearing her. Reopening the investigation does nothing positive for Hillary.
