So what would we do differently.
It was absurdly not fair, before. The government mandates so much, yet all the providers are out to maximize there own profits.
What would we as the GOP, do differently? Do not simply criticize the alternative, if we have no idea ourselves how to fix things.
Either propose an alternative, or please do not say a word. One or the other.
Just my opinion.
Are you trying to limit "Free Speech?" Well, ok then, how about Health Savings Accounts and making all premiums fully tax deductible as an inducement?
How 'bout getting the Fed to put interest rates back at around 4 to 5 percent so insurers can make a reasonable profit between the time they get the money and the time they have to pay the first claim?
And finally, stop craming all the liberal social and lifestyle rehab programs and liberal causes into the plan of coverage?
Rubbish!
When somebody keeps hitting you with a bigger hammer, the important thing is to force them to stop. It does not need to be any more complicated than that.
"Obamacare" must be immediately and completely repealed.
If you really want follow-on measures you could also repeal the Drug Re-importation Acts and the price-fixing that they enable. Prescription medicines that are made in America and retail for $300 per unit here are exported and can be purchased in Europe and Asia for $20-$60 per unit. And many such items are non-prescription over there. But you are not allowed to bring them back into this country. That's a racket that must be stopped.
Existing Anti-Trust laws apply to the entire Health Care Industry. They must be enforced. And executives who violate those laws must be jailed.
Pricing for medical procedures must be posted before service and must be the same price for everybody. That is actually what existing "Consumer Protection" laws require. Let's enforce them.
Insurance companies commonly get 50% or greater discounts on billing, simply by stalling the providers for payment. Such discounts are not available to patients who pay cash. This is insane - and also illegal discriminatory pricing.
Well; I don’t consider myself to be a GOPer (more of a Constitutionalist) but lets give it a try, shall we?
1: Allow everybody to create and own a tax free medical/health care account.
2: Allow all health care and health insurance companies to compete for business across state lines (no artificial barriers).
3: Allow health care portability for people who are moving to another city or state.
4: For the young and stupid who don’t think they need health care or don’t want to pay for it; calculate the median costs of a doctors visit, emergency room care, maternity care, etc. etc.
Calculate the median costs of these services nation wide; that is the bill the patient will be responsible for paying over a 20 month period (to be extended if the bill is huge), the payment can be voluntary or through wage garnishment, if were talking about the chronicaly unemployed (the sick, lame, lazy, or crazy) the debt can be paid through public service at a local hospital (good job training also).
Pre existing conditions can be insured through a specialty group of insurers that insure those patients only; yes, the costs would be higher but it could be made to work.
Those are just some ideas; maybe good, maybe bad, but it’s better than what you have now.
we're just the idiots sold down the river by this country...
what would we do?....desolve it entirely....let people buy insurance across state lines and let people buy insurance if they want for their needs only....
Newbie alert......
1. Calling the posters and lurkers on FR "we, the GOP" ain't cool.
2. The Obamacare law is thousands of pages long, expecting any one on here to give you a 100 or 200 word fix to it is unrealistic. I would have to write a several hundred thousand word post to explain the problems and potential solutions for Obamacare.
3. When they got rid of that whole pre-existing condition clause, what did you think would happen?
Piss off troll
