Replace “Fox News” with “Washington Post” AND “racism” with “corruption”. All of a sudden, you have truth.

Arrgh!! Made a mistake in watching the video. I thought the voice of SMNBN was the worst; but Rubin actually outdoes her in shrillness and lack of credibility.

Yes I love how they twisted Trump’s I objection to an activist LaRaza judge into “ because he was Mexican.”. This is how they twist everything . They should be called on it by other honest journalists but...

Never a better example to describe the “alternate universe” than this (interject apt description) of this know nothing. Just another shining example of someone who supposedly excelled at Bezerkly to attain a piece of paper noting she was able to pass tests but her career is devoid of any proof she has ever attained any level of excellence since closing the books and selling them back to the campus book store.

Just like MeAgain Kelly, attained a law degree, tried working at it for a while and then magically throws it all away (most likely because she sucked at it) and claims the title of Journalist. See Wikipedia and we even know that is padded.

With all due respect to freedom of the press, the responsibilities are so critical that people who declare themselves Journalists should attain that title by way of any state Department of Professional Regulation and it must be renewed each year just as a business license is required to be. And in doing so, they are then open to having their work scrutinized to attain their license much like the FCC does for broadcast rights.

Freedom of the Press has its drawback in unfettered propagation of it also gives them license to be free to lie to us as well. Without accountability for their “trade” then just as we see in this blazing example of a DOLT, anyone can do it. I have known far too many people who are “book smart” to be abject idiots when it comes to practical application of what they were supposed to have learned.

How many “honest journalists” can we put on the head of a pin?

Better yet, can we not say in collecting all of the honest journalists for a convention that it could be held in a 20 foot CONEX container with plenty of room for the barkeep and disc jockey?

Ms Rubin

When the sole sum of your writing skills is to string together a line of ridiculous personal attacks without a single intellectually factual, honest, statement in the lot, you have lost the debate.

BOR verbal kicked your ass when you went on your show and this is merely a pathetic attempt at “getting even”. Like you appearance on his show, you failed utterly here.

Zero, since there is no such thing as an “honest journalists” any more.

Sorry to disagree, but this would be the worst possible solution to media deception. The market place must hold media accountable. The Constitution recognizes the right of EVERYONE to enjoy freedom of speech and of the “press”.

Any laws to the contrary will only be selectively enforced against the political enemies of the left that runs things now.

Yes, I realize the enemedia is America’s fifth column. But we cannot become reactionary to the point of robbing citizens of their rights. Your proposal would be used to shut sites like FR down.

If the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution fail because our democracy couldn’t hang on to them, the only option left is Revolution 2. A “reset” may be required.

So you seem to think that it was alright with the founders that the freedom of the press was to be used to propagate lies? I would contend their vision was to give them the freedom to report the unvarnished truth without fear of repercussions, not to lie with none as well.

“So you seem to think that it was alright with the founders that the freedom of the press was to be used to propagate lies?”

Wrong. That’s a straw man argument.

You are making a Bush argument. He said we have to suspend capitalism to save capitalism. Homeland security and the NSA also suspend liberty to save liberty. Your position would be to suspend freedom of the press to save the freedom of the press.

The problem is NOT that the news media is unlicensed. We are all unlicensed. The problem is that the institutions have been taken over by Marxists. They don’t care about honesty or journalistic integrity.

What you are advocating, no matter how well intentioned you may be, is the same position as Obama. You may not like the outcome that he has in mind, but it is the outcome nonetheless. He wants the government to have power to shut down Fox news, talk radio, and websites like Free Republic.

The way to overcome lies is to tell the truth. If someone, including journalists lie, slander, make libelous accusations, disclose state secrets, invade privacy, then there are laws to address those things. We don’t need a license to exercise our right to the freedom of the press. We just need to use it to counter the lies and false arguments.

You can’t polish fingernails without a license. You can’t sell hot dogs on a street corner without a license. You can’t even hock straw dogs on a street corner without a license.

And that kind of bureaucracy is destructive to businesses and free enterprise in general. And freedom of speech and of the press are even more fundamental. The Constitution IS the license for these.

So apparently, the truth is not as important and getting yourself tanned, which the operators also need a license and now pay a special tax to do it.

You can go on and on for fine points but simply giving anyone who is in a position of responsibility, no responsibility at all to act as such has paved the way to the bureaucracy you are supposedly denouncing. All because someone claims they are a journalist. If they won’t report it, nothing happens. So now we are fully aware that you are just fine with that.

There just needs to be some sort of oversight for blatant in-the-bag crap going on today. With every right comes a responsibility and it is apparent that without any responsibility that right is abused affecting every one of us.

America was deliberately not constitutionally bequeathed any “Ministry Of Truth” role. America was launched on the assumption that classic liberalism (not the same as modern leftism) — the “naturally honest” search for truth and beauty — would carry it.

Here’s where I came close to savagesusie, and yet I have a different purpose, because God himself, as witnessed to by the bible, leaves me no option. We’re looking at a symptom of spiritual malaise. This points to a problem that goes beyond “America.” It goes clear to our own hearts. The more of us who want to be honest, the more an institution like America will work well. Once most of us (by some definition of most) don’t want to be honest, then classic liberal assumptions will fail and an institution like America will fail. Wanting to be honest means wanting it even if it would show us to be weak or ugly.

Hear, hear!

But to get there, the rudder must be employed. Without it, the ship will continue on its current path. Vigilance is also required but then again, until we all have skin in the game, slackers will continue their cancerous etching of our fabric. Cancer is not eradicated by aspirins. The Patton way will need to be employed before the body can start to heal itself.

Maybe it is as simple as the populace revolting enough to elect someone who cares squat what “mean” things are said about him, he just gets into the game with a bigger hammer. Many, many heads will have to roll and they most certainly will when he is elected. He has never struck me as one who will let bygones be bygones. (Rosie and Kelley) Mind you, he won’t be abusive, unethical or illegal over it, just way smarter than them on the payback.

Nobody’s going to know what to do with the rudder, without the hand of God, personally (which DOES appear to be guiding and propelling Donald Trump at this point).

As always there is a wise balance that reflects a supernatural guidance. One cannot shackle oneself to perpetual vindictiveness; but neither is it suitable to be a punching bag that cannot itself punch. As long as Donald keeps his eyes on a prize that is beyond himself, I believe he will do well.

Oh, it isn’t just me. It is EVERY conservative on this forum. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind about this. No conservatives think journalism is something that should require a license from the federal government. You think for some reason that because we have a big problem, an even bigger government will fix it. No. That will make it worse. Read the Constitution. That is what conservatives on this forum follow. Check out the FR home page:

http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm

“Free Republic advocates a return to constitutionally limited government, reserving all government powers not expressly delegated by the constitution to the United States to the States respectively, or the people, emphasizing sovereign state governments, local government, self-government and self-rule, while restricting government powers to only those enumerated in the constitution and maximizing individual rights and liberty....”

Not only does the federal government have absolutely NO authority to “license” journalists, it is expressly forbidden from doing anything like this.

The reason Marxists have taken over the national media is because too many good people stood by and let them. Too many citizens were busy working and otherwise living their lives to stand up and speak out.

It is necessary for outlets like Free Republic and talk radio to get the word out. People are seeing through the news media lies because of sources of information like this. The worst thing you could possibly do is allow politicians in Washington to set some sort of standard for who qualifies to exercise the Constitutional rights of press and free speech.

If rich and powerful Marxists get unfettered control so that there is no other option, then the only thing left to stop them is revolution.
