Morris County, Sussex County, Hunterdon County, Somerset COunty and Warren County are solid Republican. The problems are Hudson, Essex, Middlesex, Bergen, Passaic, Camden, Mercer, Monmouth, Burlington and Atlantic Counties.
Besides large minority populations which traditionally vote Democrat - although Trump may have made some inroads among them - there are large numbers of New York Metropolitan emigrees and refugees, most of whom are Democrat, fleeing the mess they made there and infecting parts of Jersey and even eastern Pennsylvania.
agreed. That’s what I experience and hear as I visit areas of NJ over the years
I think Trump will draw more black votes than any recent Republican. A lot of old truths aren’t true this year. Most polls are way off because their methodology applies to 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. The Bush, McCain, and Romney performances are not good models for this year’s Republican candidate. Neither is the Obama phenomenon a good model for Hillary. I believe New Jersey will be a surprise, as will Michigan and a few other states I can think of.
I’m in a small town in central Jersey about midway between Manhattan and Philly. Our voter registration is two-to-one republican. Locally, the dems don’t even bother putting anyone up for election. It’s one of America’s great towns and that’s all I’m going to say.
Good to know. Ancestors were from Morris County.
There are one or two naval bases in New Jersey, right? That might help some?
